My Story
My Baylor story and my Student Government story run in tandem with each other, and I am grateful for their beautiful interconnection. As a freshman in August of 2021, I had no intention of running for Student Senate until Megan Mae Oitzman, a current Senior Senator and Legislative Secretary, all but dragged me to the Interest meeting. Thinking this would be a way to just make friends, I devised my campaign for Freshman Senate. After a year of engaging in robust debate, writing many allocations, and authoring Senate Resolutions in the Public Relations committee, I recognized the gift and responsibility of Student Government. I ran my second campaign, which was for one of the 13 Sophomore Senate seats. Being elected, thanks to the support of all of you, I knew it was time to take on leadership. I was nominated to serve as the Senate Chaplain and selected to serve as the Public Relations Chair within the Senate Executive Council. These two vastly different leadership roles equiped me with vision and passion for not only Student Government but Baylor. In the spring of 2023, I ran and was elected for the role of External Vice President. Serving as EVP this year, due to my formidable and diligent cabinet, we have developed service organization connectivity and knowledgebases, reinvigorated inter-institutional relationships with (namely) TCU and other Big 12 Schools, established a partnership with Church Under the Bridge, and are currently planning a spring event to highlight minority-owned businesses in Waco. My two years of Senate experience and one year of experience as a Student Body Officer have dually humbled and motivated me. Baylor is a gift. We are bestowed with the honor of receiving and leaving Baylor better than we found it. It is my sincerest hope to culminate my time at Baylor by serving as Student Body President, not because of my qualifications but because of my deep-seated respect and passion for Baylor University and all of its integral parts.
I'm always looking for new and more areas of Baylor to speak and, more importantly, listen to. Let's connect!
